Our story with Dheerij and Matt began way back in 2020. It was during one of those endless lockdowns, when Lauren Laverne was giving small businesses a shout out as part of her Radio 6 Music breakfast show. Our (at that time) brand new wedding venue was featured, and it just so happened that Dheerij heard it. Matt hadn’t even popped the question yet, but she pulled her car over and noted down the name ‘Netherbyres’, just in case. A year later, she dropped us an email. And the rest, as they say, is history.
D & Matt’s May wedding was totally unique – a colourful and creative fusion of Scotland and India. It took place over three days – Friday was a party where they had the traditional Indian pre-wedding celebrations including Maiyan, Choora and Jaggo ceremonies.
On Saturday they had a more traditional Scottish celebration, albeit with some Indian twists such as the Dhol, who joined the Piper to welcome guests, and their Choolay spice mix favours. Not to mention Dheerij’s incredible bright red sahri, which contrasted so brilliantly with Matt’s blue and green kilt.
And because they didn’t want the celebration to end there, they stayed on Sunday night to relax and unwind with their closest friends and family.
The whole weekend was an absolute joy to be a part of. You can see the gallery of incredible images below, as well as a full list of the wonderful suppliers.
