Netherbyres House | An elegant & quirky wedding venue in the Scottish Borders

If you know us, you know we like things that are a bit unconventional. So it didn’t phase us at all when Sinéad and Andrew came to see us at the end of 2023, not even engaged yet, and told us they were thinking of getting married in May.

Luckily for us, they liked the place so much they quickly took our suggestion of a walk along nearby Coldingham beach, bought a vintage ring and sealed the deal with an engagement.

They smashed the planning in the space of a couple of weeks, booking a Stretch Tents Scotland to seat their 100 guests for the delicious middle eastern style meal prepared up by Patti & Jules. They even hand made a lego table plan, with each piece lovingly searched for to perfectly represent their guests.

We served up 100 Baby Guinnesses to toast the speeches, which is just the kind of challenge we relish, before the Soul Establishment got the dancefloor quite literally jumping! All of which was perfectly captured by one of our faves Marc Millar.

And the party didn’t stop there, Sinead & Andrew stayed an extra day, inviting their guests back for Wee Green‘s tacos, games in the garden and a substantial number of hangover curing Bloody Mary’s.

“Wowza – we are still recovering from our most amazing 3-day wedding celebration at Netherbyres House at the start of May 2024.

The venue is owned and run by absolute dream team Sarah & Mike – they are the most wonderful mix of professional, fun and relaxed (and just generally super cool). We were so impressed on meeting them, and viewing the amazing house interiors and grounds, that we officially got engaged 30 minutes after viewing the house, and booked straight in!

We were eager for relaxed, fun and stress-free vibes, in a modern, funky yet elegant venue – and this is exactly what the Netherbyres Team delivered. Communication with the team was clear and easy from Day 1. We were given very helpful planning info (and list of recommended suppliers) to help guide the process – so we had the freedom and confidence to custom build our own wedding weekend, with plenty of inspiration and support.

All our friends and family had an absolute ball and we are so grateful for Sarah & Mike bringing Netherbyres House back to life (and then some!) with their colourful, eclectic and absolutely charming design. Each bedroom is an individual work of art, and the brekkies and meals there (cooked by S&M!) were delicious.

We were blessed with Northern Lights and sunshine all weekend, but this venue has enough charm to rock it out in a thunderstorm.
